I am new to this, just got 5 laying hens and am so excited! I have been getting anywhere from 2 or 3 eggs a day, was wondering if that is normal for 5 chickens? I have 4 sexlinks and 1 barred rock. Love reading everyones questions and experiences! :)

I'm new too, but

Good luck in your chicken adventures. If they have just started laying, 2 or 3 eggs a day is normal. Have fun!

Sounds about right on the amount of eggs, especially this time of year. Of course the age of the bird and the health will definitely effect the laying frequency. And yes, you might like to chat with others in your state thread as BartolicsBroods has mentioned....

Great to have you aboard and enjoy BYC!

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! Congratulations on your new hens and those first eggs! X3, 2-3 eggs a day from 5 hens isn't bad, hens lay the most eggs when they are around 1-2 years old, they won't lay as many if they are older hens, and it will take them awhile to get up to speed if they are just starting.

No I haven't...never heard of it but will check it out! Where in Wyoming are you? I am in Pavillion! ;)
