Hi everyone. My husband and I got started last summer. Some friends gave us two banty roosters and a coop that they were not using. We got used to caring for them before we got our chicks. We ordered 5 Barred Rocks and 5 Delawares from the feed store. When it came time to pick them up, they had not hatched yet, so my husband purchased 2 RIRs and 4 Buff Orpingtons who were 2 weeks old. Our chicks that we order hatched 2 weeks later. We love working with the chickens. The whole family enjoys them. Our two cats don't mind the chickens. They just watch them.
