hello everyone!
Happy to be a part of your chicken community. We live in Michigan outside of Ann Arbor. We are not new to raising chickens. We have raised Cornish cross chickens in the past, and wanted a more rewarding experience this time around. Guess we should have thought more about the number of chickens we were going to raise. We have 20 layers and 32 meat birds. My hands are full! I am enjoying them all at the moment, but its a lot of work.
The breeds we have, or told we bought for the layers are white Leghorn, Isa Brown, Light Brahma, Silver Laced Wyandotte, and Road Island Reds. We also ended up with two Black Maran chicks and an "oops" Silver Laced Wyandotte rooster. Don't know how that is going to work out. The birds we bought for meat are Black Jersey Giants and Black Australorps.
Heaven help me! Hopefully I can learn and get help along the way here. What an adventure.
