Hi everyone! We are a family of 7-myself, dh, three boys and two girls. And a kitten. We live in central CT, and just bought a house with a half-acre lot. Which is a half-acre more than we've ever had LOL.
Years ago, we spent a few days on a 'guest farm' and they had chickens that laid colored eggs. We said 'someday!' we would have that-someday is almost here! I ordered 6 Auracanas (they could be EE's, not sure but we don't show or anything so it doesn't matter to us) and dh wanted also 6 RIR's, from HealthyCHicks and more. They will put in a free rare breed chick, which I might regret since it didn't occur to me that it could be a rooster. I ordered pullets-we are in a city and don't want roosters. Anyhow, they are set to arrive in early March! If, say, 6 or seven of them live, I'll be thrilled-we've never cared for farm critters before.
Dh and I are both city letter carriers. I've seen chickens ONCE at work, since I deliver in a urban area. All of us carriers were fascinated by them-they were peeping and peeking through the holes in the box. As the morning went on they peeped louder and louder, lol. They did make it safely to their new home. I don't deliver in the city I live in, so I'll be calling the supervisor at my office when they are set to arrive because we'll be at work delivering other people's mail
Looking forward to clucking away on this fourm!
