Introducing myself as a new member! Overall, I’m here to learn We have a small backyard flock that are as much pets as they will be egg suppliers. While we do have some orpingtons, we really enjoy silkies and will likely lean into bantams more than standard sized chickens

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Yes, we started our chicken journey this spring!

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We have 10 chickens (6 orpingtons, 4 silkies) and some chicks about to hatch!


(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I love that it requires you to be present! As someone that works a fast-paced job I loved the idea of having something that forces you to get outside and pay attention when my oldest son brought up the fact he wanted to get chickens.

Oh how cool your son wanted them . They are peaceful to hang with. They are kind of therapeutic. Good choice of birds. Welcome.
