In the Brooder
Hi, I'm a new chicken mom and looking forward to this new adventure. I have wanted chickens for at least 10 years, but I never made the leap until my 10yo daughter started asking about chickens at the beginning of the pandemic. I enjoy city living, but backyard chickens are popular in my town. Our chicks hatched on June 23, and we have had them since they were 2 days old. We have 13 - 2 EEs, 1 OE, Delaware, gold laced Wyandotte, light Brahma, 2 polish (white crested black and buff), Buff Orpington, Australorp, Barred Rock and a little red one (not sure what she is...was supposed to be a Welsummer). We have spent the past few months building a coop...or chicken mansion as my husband calls it. I have spent way too much time reading BYC this summer. It's so interesting to see how others do things. I can't wait to learn more about keeping chickens...and of course for the eggs. Look forward to sharing with all of you.
