New chicken mom! Bought my first house which also came with coop so we decided to try it out! I’ve done my research and been part of online workshops, but still learning!

Hi, congrats on your first flock! In your first picture, it looks like chicken wire was used for the exterior wall of the run. Chicken wire isn't strong enough to keep a flock safe from predators, I'd recommend using hardware cloth instead (or even on top of the chicken wire). Best wishes!

Yes the previous owners made the coop with chicken wire and were in the process of adding hardwire cloth to it! In the mean time we are making sure our dog is always out watching the girls 😊

Hiya, and welcome to BYC! :frow

That's a pretty little flock you've got there!

I too cringe seeing chicken wire there. Glad to hear you'll soon have that fixed. :)

What kind of dog do you have? Ours do great at keeping the riffraff out of our yard. They're a border collie and a corgi.

We're glad you're here!
