Hi everyone! I'm new here and new to chickens. My husband, daughter and I have 2 dogs, 1 cat and (currently) 10 baby chicks, but I'm already itching for more! We live in central Louisiana while my husband is stationed at Ft. Polk.

This is, Kitty, checking out her new siblings, who she'd love to eat. She is a superior hunter who came to us as a stray when we lived in Tennessee. Since this photo, she has been banned from the garage.

Hearing you loud and clear down under chicken6 [IMG] Welcome!

Wow, Kitty has a very evil look on her face! The poor little munchkins will probably have nightmares for weeks lol. However, when they grow up, they will be the ones chasing her off and/or stealing her food! [IMG]

As you have already received links to some good starting points, I will just wish you all the best.

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share more pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out [IMG]

    Out to pasture
Time to put a secure wire top on the brooder in case Kitty gets hungry. It will also keep chicks from flying or - they start practicing early.

She's been banned from the garage for now...No doubt she would try to eat them if she could. I have a feeling that won't last long once they are the same size. [IMG]
