Hello hello! I am so excited to be a part of this wonderful community! My family just moved to a new house with 3 acres and a small barn. I've always wanted to raise some farm animals so we are going to start with ducks! We are so excited to start this new adventure and hope to learn from all the experts here on Backyard Chickens! We are thinking about starting with Runners since we are interested in eggs and friendly ducks. Can't wait until spring!

Hi, so nice to meet you! Where are you anyway? you can put your location on your profile which really does help when it comes to helping you!

I've got 11 runners and love them so much. They are such funny little things to watch and I've got eggs coming out of my ears! They just don't seem to stop very much. I wish they would take a bit of a rest!

The first thing you will need to do is make a predator-proof secure pen for them at night. That means hardware cloth all over that nothing can get in. I can tell you better when you tell me where you are.

There are tons of great people on here that can help out with everything so don't worry! We can get you started on everything duck! It's good that you are planning ahead!

Welcome, I have 7 ducks, I didn’t even want ducks or think I would want them, but they came with our farm. I found out I love ducks, even more than chickens. They are entertaining and full of personality. Have fun.

I adore my runners. I especially love it when they line up and parade, single file, to nowhere in particular. All my hens, who come from the same breeder, produce white eggs except Quinn, their undisputed leader, who lays a lovely green egg. They are resting for the winter but should start daily production again in late March or early April.

Welcome to BYC. It's a great community!!
