When I have a stick in my handIs he friendly?
My two roosters are awesome. They used to attack me, but have not for about 6-months. They are the first to greet me and sit on my lap, especially for peanuts. When I have a stick in my handhe is on limited time, he attacks from behind, I am starting to think that all RIR cockerels have this trait from my experience
he is coming up to 2yrs old
I am giving him every opportunity to mature, giving it is hormonal season

I have developed a friendship with my roosters. I believe my 26-years of having an Akita (obviously 2-Akita’s) has helped me understand roosters. I respect my roosters position as being the food forager, protector, and mating partner of the hens and never interfere with their dominance in these matters. I know many on this site may call this being submissive to the rooster, but I strongly disagree. The roosters and I are partners taking care of the hens. I believe that if one tries to dominate a rooster, it will constantly be a game of dominant/submissive with the rooster and nobody wins. At the end of the day, my roosters know who has the food and who lets them out, but there is no reason for me to pull that dominance card; they have pride. If a person has enough self confidence to let them have that perceived power, they will win with respect to a relationship with their rooster. And it will be a relationship like no other. Roosters are very deep loyal friends. Please tell me your secret! I have worked with Red for the last 2yrs, I don’t want to give up on him![]()
