We have been buying baby chickens here for about 4 years and raising them. Almost all of them are called double breasted chickens, That is the translated name from Spanish to English. I really don´t know what the real name is in English. Mostly we buy them and when they are about 5 weeks old, we give them to the poorer people that live near us. It´s a lot of fun.

At this current time we have 2 egg laying hens, I don´t know what kind they are, but they are kinda brown and gold colored. Real fat. I like em.

I found this site because, I don´t remember how, but I visited www.loudenfarms.com and liked what I saw and sent an email and Jen Louden sent me back an email. So I went back to their site and saw this link and decided to join in hopes that I would be able to communicate with Jen or her husband.

Although I am investigating how to make stained glass windows right now, the only other hobby I have at this time is cooking. I was a cook in the U.S. Air Force and have loved to cook ever since. I am not always able to do it, but I try to cook a big meal twice a week and let the people eat here for free. It is a LOT of fun.

I am origionaly from Maine and have 2 daughters and 2 sons that still live there along with 4 grand daughters and one grand son. My current wife, from Tuxpan, Veracruz, Mexico and I live here in Northern, Mexico in the state of Tamualipas in our house alone. We have a small 4 bedroom home with about 30 acres in a small Mexican type ranch. We have Guinea hens, parakeets, a bob cat, a horse, a couple dogs, who knows how many cats (lol), 3 HONERY geese ( even I´m scared of em), a few goats, a few cows and that´s about it. I don´t work because I am 100% disabled from the U.S. A.F. and have been for about 18 years now.

I want to start raising pheasants and hatching eggs, which is how I found www.loudenfarms.com through google in the first place.

I guess that is about it.

Hello and welcome! Glad to meet you! I'm Sharon, and I have an 8x12 chicken barn, plus a small 6x6 A-Frame coop, both out back. We live on six wooded acres. I guess I'm a backyard chicken hobbyist. I've also got two dogs, a husband and four kids. My other hobby is that I love to crochet. I make doilies and afghans (blankets).

My chickens are primarily for eggs. I don't get a huge amount to sell, but I do sell a few dozen each week, and give some away to family.

Oh, I have one granddaughter, Lucy, who is 9 mos old. That's about it! Enjoy the site. I really love it.

A warm welcome from an imp in Washington

Sounds like you raise chickens for a worthy cause.

Imp- Pictures of your ranch and animals please

Imp, give me acouple of days to figure it out, if I can, and I will be happy to upload more pictures, I just now figured out how to upload 1 picture of my ducks. that are like the local gang that wanders around the house and quack like the dickens if something is wrong. LOL

Chicmom, you are correct, I forgot to say where I raise my chickens and other birds. To be honest, I miss-appropiated a lot of railroad ties, and dub them in. From that, I bought a few 3 x 3´s from Home Depot, and screwed them in so that I could put very small chicken coop wire and a tin roof to make a coop. My coope is about 60 feet long by 8 feet wide. Has almost no laying area because it is so hot down here that I was scared the chickens would die from the heat. It´s just a small thing and I know, If I want to start pheasants I gonna have to build something bigger. but, I am able and willing. for sure.
