(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Yes, I’m new to chickens! I’m an animal lover and I’ve decided to try to get into raising chickens.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I have 6 baby chicks.
(3) What breeds do you have?
I have 5 Rhode Island Reds and one that I’m not sure of the breed.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I don’t have the land for a farm but I have a decent sized back yard and I thought chickens would be a nice hobby for me and my girls.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I have two young daughters who require most of my time.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I’m married to my husband of 6 years and we have a two year old and a one year old daughters. We have no other pets at the moment other than our six new little chicks. I currently work part time as a receptionist at a flooring store and spend the rest of my time at home with my two girls.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
A family friend introduced me to backyard chickens. I’m looking forward to expanding my knowledge on chickens and how to raise and care for them!
