Hi I’m a new baby chick mama.
We don’t own chickens (well now I guess we do.) but a few weeks ago a mama chicken popped up in our horse pen with her babies. We’re not sure where exactly she came from. Our neighbors have chickens but one of them has them secure in a coop and the other one only has hens. They claim this chicken didn’t belong to them but I think maybe they don’t want to deal with the babies. Anyway, unfortunately our dog got the mama and the babies disappeared for awhile until at night I could hear them peeping. There was only 4. So I brought them inside and the first few days they looked great! In fact 3 of them are thriving just fine and they seem happy. They cuddle up to me and let me hold them. The 4th one is a little smaller and she has less feathers. She’s gotten very sick yesterday but I think she’s improving. I’m here for advice and to continue to learn so these little babies can live a long happy life. We’re in the process of building a coop for them but in no rush since they’re not old enough to go back outside yet. Thank you for taking the time to read this!
