No that is a Light Brown Leghorn.

These are what Dark Brown Leghorns look like. They are partridge based and much darker.

Dark Brown Leghorns cropped up in a line of Brown Leghorns. So they maintained both lines and referred to the original variety of Browns as Light Brown, and the darks as Dark Brown. The difference is that they have two different base colors and I believe that Dark Brown also have mahogany. Dark Brown are partridge based (eb) and Light Browns are gold duckwing based (wild type; e+). Dark Brown Leghorns are gorgeous and I want some someday. But definitely not right now. We are trying to just tread water in this economy for now and keep the feed bill as trimmed as we can.

My husband does like burritos. Throw in some hunting/fishing/outdoors anything and he would be there. He won’t complain about me though.

Lol my husband won’t complain about me either, mostly just chicken poop. And chickens jumping on his truck. Or chickens laying eggs in his truck. Or chickens eating his grass seed…or his clover seed…or whatever they have done to him lately that eggs don’t make up for

He is always trying to keep up with my chicken projects too. His latest is building me a wooden brooder box for the barn. But everything to do with the guineas is on him because he’s the one that wanted those. So as soon as their homing period is over next week I am sure he will be complaining about a different kind of poop.

Apparently, people up here have owned Guineas before so everyone is used to those but not a lot of chickens. There are already a couple donkeys so I think the Guineas will have some competition
