But an old hand at raising chickens
I currently have 4 jumbo Pekin ducks 2 males and two females, a pair of regular Pekin ducks. I just got 4 Buff Orpington chicks as a replacement for the twelve RIR chicks that two small dogs killed. Repair the new run to prevent another lost to 2.5 month old RIR chicks. I put 4 foot 2x4 welded wire on the ground under my fencing, using zip ties to fasten the fencing on the ground to the upright fencing edge as it wasn't done the first the yard was added. Now, the two small dogs just stand on the wire looking in the chicken yard.
but can't get in the yard as they would have to dig four foot under the the fencing laying on the ground to get into the yard after my chicks. Thank goodness the other adult birds are fine in the yard.
