I am on my second batch of chicks. I learned the hard way on my first batch. One died after a couple of days and then after they got big my dogs finished them all off but one. She is doing well and laying. I have many questions. When can I introduce her to the chicks? They are in separate pens but they can see each other. Also she has been acting strange and not eating much, but I don't know why. She doesn't seem sick. Any advise would be appreciated. Thank you..

Hiya, and welcome to BYC!! :frow

Usually if they're just a few weeks apart, or at a young age, even a month apart often works well but this sounds like they're months apart?

As for not eating, what feed are your chickens on? If it's starter/grower/layer, try making a mash out of it as that seems to go over great, almost like a treat to them.

I'd be cautious about introducing them until you see she's acting normally. Any other symptoms?

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow

So sorry for your losses. :hugs What are the age differences? 2 weeks is ok, and you could probably mix her in, but if the older group is more than 2 weeks, you might let them see each other for a while.

Do you see the little chick eating and drinking? How is her poop? Is she warm enough?

Hello Judy, and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
When can I introduce her to the chicks?
How long have they been on opposite sides of the 'look don't touch' setup?
In what way is the older pullet acting strangely? How are her poops? Is her crop full at night and flat in the morning?
