Hello! I am new here.

:frow Welcome from New Orleans! There are some great articles on chicken coops and raising chickens that you can find by going back to the home page. Keep us posted on how your chicken keeping is going. We are always here for questions and help.
It is sometimes helpful to put the area where you live, like SE Louisiana, NW America, etc. You don't need to be specific.

Should they just be able to run in a large chicken run? Currently planning to get 6-8 chickens. Also, damn that's impressive!
Welcome!!!
If you find you love chickens I wanted to let you know that your plans of 6-8 chickens could lead to 8-13. Unless you have great self control. Though you may find yourself justifying WHY you want... scratch that NEED more than 6-8.
Just in case if you have the room in your yard you could have a small amount of extra space whatever you decide to build for them.
My first venture with outdoor birds was Coturnix quail. I told my husband I was going to get 5-6 of them. Well... I ended up getting 18!!!!!! Not all at once but with in the same week. I got a few chicks then searched for more because I wasn’t satisfied. You may not be this way... but just in case I thought I’d mention it.
Can you have a rooster where you live? They help protect the hens.
You will be SO HAPPY and excited when you get your first egg! I have small bantam chickens and their eggs are adorable! And yummy! Everyone here is nice and they all try to help if they can. And some are funny and silly. It’s a great place to talk about your chickens or almost anything. Though it has to be appropriate. There are children that read this info. Good luck and have fun!!

Hello! I am a new member of this site, and I won't be getting very personal with this site if that makes sense (as in i do not like to share information about myself online)

I am just planning to get Rhode Island Reds and would like any advice/feedback on taking care of them. I also would like advice on getting a coop and run because I still haven't figured that out yet.
They are great layers. Check out articles on coops on here and welcome.
