Hello, I am new to BYC and the chicken community.

I have 3 six month old laying hens. One Buff Orpington, one Rhode Island Red, and an Easter Egger.
Our Orpington has started pecking me in the morning when I am in the coop doing my morning chores. How can I break this bad habit?

Welcome to Backyard Chickens take a stick or a water bottle... gently put the stick between you and her or turn and spray her plain water alright

Hi and welcome. I have 6 hens and "Big Red" comes at me sometimes. She is in charge. LOL I give her a gentle boot.

Funny, my 5 mo. old Buff Orp started doing the same thing! She also flies right up on my shoulder when I'm not looking and keeps moving so I can't reach her as I'm doing all these acrobatic moves trying to get her off... it's her favorite chicken twister game!
