Hello ! I am new to BYC

I live in Lafayette, Indiana and just bought a house while my husband and I get our graduate degrees. I can't wait to start my garden and if I can a chicken coop. I have been doing some research online about chickens in lafayette, but I found one source that shows you can have them with a permit and then others that say you cant have any. Anybody know anything?
