My name is Preston, but you can call me Pete or anything else besides late for dinner.
I am new to the group and new to raising chickens, but not new to animal husbandry. I raised sheep in FFA in high school, and I have raised Bearded Dragons, an Australian lizard species that is popular right now, even hatched baby lizards.

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? Dont have chickens yet, that is one of the reasons I joined here, hoping someone can help me find the breed I am looking for

(2) How many chickens do you have right now? See above

(3) What breeds do you have? See above, but I have fallen in love with Red laced Blue Wyandottes and Gold laced Wyandottes. The Reds are proving hard, not to find, but hard to buy. My coop is small and even tho the factory info says I can house up to 7 chickens in it, I am limiting myself to 4, so I am needing to buy 2 of each of the Wyandottes, which is difficult to get shipped as chicks

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com? I was searching Google for local and semi-local hatcheries within driving distance of where I live.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies? I like hunting and fishing and riding my motorcycle and building things, tho my age and health are affecting my participation in these things

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
My fiance' and I are really into cats. I am a 100%disabled(but can still get around some) Vietnam Vet.

Hi, I'm new here and have a couple of Silkie I got a couple weeks ago. Most I know about chickens is how to prepare them for dinner. Lol this pair however are pets for my 3yr old. So I'm taking the crash course on chicken raising...
