I have had chickens for over a year but I got me an incubator and wanting to hatch my own. I have about 30 total and love my fresh eggs.

Glad you could join the flock! Congrats on your new incubator. I too love incubating and hatching eggs, it's such a rewarding and fun experience especially when you see your chicks hatch. Such an amazing event to actually watch. In fact I'm setting eggs again today to feed my addiction, it can really become an addiction. Have you checked out hatching eggs 101? I am reading all post on my incubator it the janoel 24. I am scared the egg turner not working. But I will found out Wednesday when I candlelight them. I am already addicted. Lol. Hubby said no more buying so I will hatch. But he knew I would do that. I have a big coop made from an old bread truck and the what we call the new coop but it a real coop. Lol I have 14 chicks I brought several weeks ago. They are in my den. Lol. Thanks for the link I will read it too.

Yes I am victim of chicken math. But I don't know if my auto turner is working. But I will see Wednesday when I candle light them.
 
I finally figured or should say my auto turner is working. I am on happy person. But my incubator has ahold on top that if correct was to stay open but someone put something on it. I don't know how long is was on there. Do you think they are ok or should I just start over. Please help. Thanks.
 
Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! It sounds like you are talking about the main vent hole? If you just started incubating they should be fine, there should be more than one vent hole in the incubator (usually smaller ones around the sides), you do want to be sure that the large one is open when you are hatching.
