Hello! I have a question (surprise)

We have a hen on a nest. Some of the eggs were rotten and broke. When this happened it covered the other eggs with stinky goo. Will these eggs still hatch? She has been on the nest for about 2 weeks. I clean the nest every time she hops off. Two of the eggs are very light-about half the weight of the others. Are these rotten too or is there a baby inside!?! I don't have the heart to crack it open myself. I would have the image burned in my mind forever if there was a baby in there! I guess my main question is if it is possible for goo covered eggs to hatch? And if I should do anything to help them along. Thank you! Love this site-so helpful for chicken addicts!

Hi and welcome to BYC! Yep, the folks over at Incubating and Hatching Eggs should be able to help you out. Good luck with the hatch and thanks for joining us!
