hello,I just bought some chicks

I am new at the chicken family. I bought11 chicks and not really sure how long to feed them their medicated food or when to introduce the grit. Is pine shavings better than straw? as you can see I have a lot of questions...

! Great to have you with us! I prefer pine shavings to straw - at least when they are tiny - it seems warmer. I start giving grit at about a week - not free choice - just sprinkled on their food like we'd salt our food. I feed mediated for about a month and then feed regular.
