My little girls favorite pet got snatched from the coop lastnight.it was a bantam that was black with some white feathers .I will pay anything if you have one that you want to sell .I just don't want to break her heart and tell her that her best frind is gone.

So sorry to hear about your daughter's pet. Chickens have a lot to teach us, including how to handle loss. Where are you located? You might try posting in your state thread.

Farm life is not all pleasant.

There are scenes of real violence that take place. You can lie to the child in order to protect her from sadness, but your not allowing her to form the tools she will need later on in life. Tools she will need in order to cope with things she will see in future. No one likes to see a crying child, but as parents its our job to give them the tool to ensure that they have the ability to become successful adults. Success, Failure, Gain and Loss, are all just part of every day life.

Just a few thoughts

She's had enough life lessons for a while.if someone wants to help me I appreciate it,but please all the Dr phils ,don't bother .I don't need someone telling me to let my 5 year old learn about another loss in her life if I can prevent it.

Oh come on people the girl is 5 years old stop with the life lesson crap. Matt do you know ware you got the hen from or what breed she was or was she a mix? my sister has a bird rescue she has over 60 bantams right now im shore one of them will match the little hen, if we are close you can come get it. Don't worry about the hen being mean eather my sis wont sell a mean bird. I'm not shore what good hurting a 5 year olds feelings would do she is only 5 and i would do the same for my kids.

Where do you live? If you have a picture of the bird too that might help. I am sure we can find someone close to you that can help. I agree at 5 to many life lessons to be learned let her be a child for a bit. I did the same thing when my son's dog died and 3 days later his fish died. I went and got another identical fish to replace it so he wouldn't know. He had enough to deal with loosing his best friend of all his life I didn't think he needed his fish dying on top of that. Let us know how we can help you find a new bird.

Matt I think you have to have at least 10 posts to put pictures up. Email it to me at [email protected] and I will post the picture here for you.
