Hey all, Im not sure if this is the right spot to post this but I need help. My wife and I recently rescued/given 3 hens that were living in not the best of conditions in a pidgin coop. We got them and currently have them in a quarantine coop away from the rest of our flock to de-worm and take care of any lingering parasites🤢. I know chicken is usually used for something or someone that is scared of everything but these poor birds are terrified of everything. They barely eat or drink anything. Will this improve? We have had them for about 3 days now and besides one of them not having any fethers on its rear they look okay.

What breeds are they or do you know? Do you have a picture of them? Some breeds are naturally skittish. You might need to hand them a lot of patience to get them comfortable with you. Finding their favorite treat will help. Sitting in with them with their favorite treat around you will help them get used to you. You might have to do this for a long time and every day, depending how quickly they come around, if they do.

One is a barred plymouth rock, the other is a brahma mixed with what I believe could be a black copper marans, and the last one is a little mean and she is an appenzeller spitzhauben. Or atleast thats what my wife's google says. I dont have pictures of them at the moment but im hopeing to get some as soon as I can. I hope they can come around.

Brahmas are typically pretty friendly and Barred Rocks typically are too. My Marans has always been friendly too. I think plenty of time and patience along with a lot of treats will get them to come around. Give them a least a couple of weeks to settle in while you work with them. Try not to pick them up as that can have the opposite effect. Let them come to you, not you go to them.
As far as the Appenzeller, I'm not too familiar with them, but I'm thinking they might be a little skittish but I'm not entirely sure. That one might need some extra work and might never come around.
