Hello all,
I live in Mountain Home Idaho and just purchased my first chicks a couple days ago. This is a brand new adventure for me.
I have 5 chicks total. Four I purchased and one I got for free. We have some friends that also plan on giving us some grown hens this summer.
The chicks we got are 2 light brahmas and 3 black australorps. The older hens will be barred plymouth rock and speckled sussex.
I found BYC when I was looking for plans to build my henhouse. I loved how big and helpful the community was so I joined right away.
I grew up a city girl but military has brought me to this small western town and I am loving every bit of it. Our goal is to work towards becoming more self sufficient and create a homestead for ourselves. So naturally chickens are part of the plan. I hope to learn from the experiences of the BYC community and look forward to sharing my adventures with you all!
