Hey all! I live in Savannah and have 5 silkie pullets. I've read they are particularly hard to tell apart but I'm pretty sure the oldest is a roo. He is about 10 weeks old, bold and holds himself all upright and isn't scared of much. Already seems like he's standing up for the rest. I recently noticed a little wattle on him. was hoping for a 2nd opinion. This is him! Thanks!!

Silkies are extremely hard to sex before 4-5 mos. of age etc. Please post photos at "what breed or gender is this." to get more opinions and also on the "Silkie thread," so you are certain he is a male before you rehome him. Bearded silkies generally have no wattles showing, so I assume your bird is beardless and maybe hatchery stock. Good luck.

Welcome!

I am also leaning towards cockerel on your little one but agree with Diva that you might want to wait until you know for sure before making any decisions. If he is a boy I sure hope you are able to keep him.

I also hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share more pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out
