So sorry you ended up with a couple CX. When they reach about 8.5 pounds live weight they're ready to process and won't live much longer after that. Sorry

unfortunately, your meat birds will not live long if allowed to eat the way a layer chicken should eat. Meat birds, if they are to live longer than a few weeks, must have a much more restricted food intake.

Hello My name is Sharon and I have 6 5-6week old chicks/teenagers. We are building a coop so they are currently in the basement of my house, and need to get out soon. I have 2 Amarucana, 2 Austrolorps and I found out the other two I have are Cornish X. I wanted 6 egg layers. Now can they all stay together? I will not abandon the Meat Birds, Holy chicken crap they eat a lot. Coop is almost done and chickens are ready to go out. Because I live in NJ it is more than warm enough for them to go out. I have put them out on occasion for a bid in an old coop that we have but brought them in at night.

Thank you for all your advise, I had to give up my 2 meat birds.
