Hello, I'm Mystikal but my friends call me Myst.

Mystikal isn't my actual name but it is the name most of my friends know me by. It's my gamer name on PS4. I'm a stay at home mom of three humans, three cats, two dogs and one Holland Lop. Most recently four Easter eggers, two Cinnamon Queens and two leghorn. I've always gotten along better with animals than most people. I think everyone in our house is on the spectrum. (Autistic)

In early 2020 we packed what we could fit into a 20ft. U-Haul and moved our family from Wisconsin to South Carolina. We always had a dream to have a little homestead and we simply couldn't afford to do that in Wisconsin. It was a rough move as we left just weeks after COVID started. Long story short, we found some land and had a manufactured home delivered and setup. We've been here nine months and we're finally able to start the flock I always wanted.

I didn't have specifics planned out. I just knew I wanted laying chickens. We went to see the chicks at our local TSC and jumped right in with 4 chicks. That was Thursday last week. Today my daughter brought home 4 more so it's looking pretty serious now.

I look forward to meeting people and learning the way of the backyard chickens.
Welcome! May I please see your floppy eared Floofer?

Where will you keep them when they're older?
Hello! We have been extensively researching what type of coop will suit our property. We are leaning in the direction of a Hoop Coop. We also have practically unlimited access to pallets. We start construction on Wednesday and I will know more then. If you have any suggestions for a couple who are not carpenters or wealthy I would love to hear them. :)

So glad to see a fellow transplant to SC! I'm interested in homesteading as well, although I'm currently contenting myself with gardening and chicken-raising. Good luck to you and yours, and keep us appraised!
The gardening part has me utterly stumped. The growing season from Wisconsin to SC is very different!

It's really hard to get a picture of a moving target. Had her on the deck in an old puppy crate while hosing her house down. Haven't had her in the grass lately because there is a bunny sickness that is highly contagious happening and some people in my bunny groups even recommend against bringing them greens from outside. Misty Bunbun is 9 and I want her around as long as possible.
