Congratulations on doing your research first (although, the more I read, the more different breeds I want).
If I were starting over with breeds, I would probably go with Sapphire Gem (mine tend to produce big eggs year-round), Speckled Sussex (friendly, good layer) and Cochin (because they are so fluffy-pretty and seem to like every person they've ever met). Having said that, I have LOTS of breeds and find something to like about every one of them.
