I'm Catherine. I have 5 hens and live in Northern California with plenty of room for my girls to roam in the back yard. I have joined this amazingly informative site to help my hens stay as healthy and happy as possible. I learn so much from reading your posts and responses. I already posted about flystrike and am totally wowed by the kindness, knowledge, an encouragement of others. Thanks!

Welcome to Backyard Chickens Catherine. So glad you know about fly strike, it can be horrible if the maggots go unnoticed. They start out going after dead tissue, and then pursue healthy tissue and can migrate to the brain.
