Welcome to Backyard Chickens Catherine. So glad you know about fly strike, it can be horrible if the maggots go unnoticed. They start out going after dead tissue, and then pursue healthy tissue and can migrate to the brain.

Right! OMG awful. It was a rude awakening. I have kept hens for years and never even knew about this!
