No, she only looks to be about three - four weeks old or so. She's close though!Does she look fully featherd
Give her a huddle box. Lay a box on its side and put a thick layer of fluffy dry bedding in it and leave the top flap to hang down so it forms a little cave. Use a box small enough so that she will be very cozy in there. It will help trap her body heat and keep her comfortable.Oh ok thank udoes she need a heating lamp still I mean when she's inside she lays away from the lamp bit she chirps kind of loud when I turn it off
I have three 2 week old chicks in a brooder cage with their adoptive mama hen inside the 6x8 shed henhouse. It's to get to 93 today! They are in the shade, windows open and fan blowing not on the but for circulation. Do I need to move them to the cooler but not chilly garage? Right now, here in the midwest just before 11 am they are chickening and it's mid 80s. But it's going to get in low 90s. I won't be home all day to keep checking them. Thank you!If she's hot, she'll stand with her wings away from her body and she'll pant. As long as she's "chickening" - running around, scratching the dirt, pecking, eating, drinking, grooming, generally acting like a chicken - I would not worry about her.
I would leave them outside as long as there is plenty of water and shade. I am also in the midwest - SE Missouri - and same, low 90's today, hotter next few days. I always figure if wild birds can handle the weather, chickens can too.I have three 2 week old chicks in a brooder cage with their adoptive mama hen inside the 6x8 shed henhouse. I'm up where you are too apparently, so I am on a ice cube making mission. I'll be putting icecubes or float frozen water bottles in their water.I have three 2 week old chicks in a brooder cage with their adoptive mama hen inside the 6x8 shed henhouse.
