Hi!

I'm a guy from Sweden who's recently moved to the countryside from the city and working on setting up a homestead, so getting chicken for eggs, meat and companionship just seemed like a natural thing for me to do. I've already fallen in love with these birds, and I'm very much looking forward to keeping & taking care of them.

I've kept chicken for two months now, so I'm still very much a beginner. Right now I have five swedish flower hens (four pullets and one cockerel, sadly one pullet is sick at the moment), two sussex (no idea about their sex) and three mystery birds who's sex and breed I have no idea of. I know at least one is a cockerel, but that's it.

So I'm hoping I can get some advice for my newbie questions on this place. :)

I also have two cats, and I enjoy making art and photography, writing, video games, taking care of my plants, foraging/herbalism and anything that goes along with self-suffency, really.

Cheers!

RE: your sick bird, you can post in full detail at "emergencies, diseases, injuries, cures," thread. Welcome to Backyard chickens

Thank you :)

Yes, I made a thread there a while ago actually. She had water coming out of her beak and diarrhea earlier today, now she's just standing in a corner and sleeping...
