Kudos to all you chicken raisers. First post! Just inherited 4 chickens from neighbor across street. The girls seem to acclimated to new environment and new host. I placed them on the down side of wind and sun. Do I need a tarp to keep them cool??? Have coop and 20X15 walking/scratching pen 6' h.

If this tarp provides shade, then definitely yes. Chickens need lots of shade to survive the brutal temps and blaring sun. You can hose their shade down in the summer as well when it gets really warm to help cool them. Not so wet that it is muddy, but damp so the feet stay cool.
