I had chickens in Phoenix over a decade ago, but the city made us get rid of them after a year. I live now in Utah where I built a coop and bought some chicks in September 2021. They just started laying a few weeks ago. Currently I have 14 hens and 2 roosters. So far they are getting along pretty well, though one of my hens is getting pecked a lot. She's in my dining room recovering now. I have a variety of breeds, I didn't really pay attention just asked for a 2 pairs of 6 then bought 1 each of the remaining breeds the store had in stock. Chickens are a lot of fun to watch and see wander around the yard. Of course I enjoy they eggs, but also plan on using their fertilizer around my fruit trees and field.
Other things I do other than yard work and gardening are skiing, dirt biking, and some electronics.
In addition to the chickens I have two cats, a couple small fish, and my Son's little dog.
I came across Back Yard Chickens on facebook as well as every time I searched for anything chicken related. Seems like a great resource and good people to get to know.

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
How much space do your birds have, in sq ft in the coop and in the run? Do you free range? What is in the run? Many times a bird is picked on because the flock is bored and the victim has little means of escape because they don't have enough space.
