(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I started with backyard chickens this year (hatched April 1, 2021)
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Six
(3) What breeds do you have?
Currently only buff Orpingtons.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I love getting the chicks and they are so cute. Seeing them grow up. I think they are also just so funny following me around their run in the hopes I'll drop a treat for them. And the eggs are just so much more delicious than the store-bought ones.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I'm big on nature and self-sustainability. I grow hops and brew my own beer. I make really good bread and I'm also a beekeeper.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I'm an electrical engineer, and I have a dog and a cat.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I've read some posts on BYC before by doing google searches and am currently having a health problem with one of my chickens. I wanted to ask a community of knowledgeable chicken raisers.
