I'm Tex. I have used this forum to look up questions many times and finally decided to join
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Yes and no. I have had my chickens for a little over a year and have learned a lot from frienda and family that have owned chickens.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Currently have 9.
(3) What breeds do you have?
2 polish, one roo (tolbunt maybe?) and one pullet (gold laced)
2 black silkie hens
5 uncertain but guesses are 1 isa brown roo, 1 gold laced Wyandotte, 2 golden comet, 1 buff rock hens
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
The eggs of course! I also get a kick out of their morning greeting every day when i walk to my car.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Crafting, reading, and spending time with my family.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I am a stepmother, have 3 big cuddle dogs and a cat. I have a full time job and am a full time college student working towards my bachelors. My husband eventually wants to have a small farm.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I found this community through a Google search looking for answers. I decided to join so that I may be able to ask my own questions
