Oops I made a post before my intro, my bad. my wife and I have been raising yard birds for a couple of years now. of weeks had some issues as most when raising chickens. We lost a few chickenseconds to hawks, an possum and to other chickens. currently the girl aren't producing and I dont know why. Anyway nice to be here.

I understand the loss. two years ago our family lost 56 birds over 4 nights to a mink. It was tragic, waking up, only to find chicken corpses everywhere. We have had fox losses, coyote losses (We lost 20 turkeys to coyotes this year), hawk, and a barn owl once. Predators can be very costly. But anyways, Welcome!
 
Hi and welcome to BYC - thanks for joining us. The shorter daylight hours is likely the cause for a break in egg laying.

do check out the predator threads for advice on safeguarding your flock, as much as is possible. By the m.o. they can usually tell what predator did this or that.

I agree with CTKen that the shorter daylight hours may be responsible for the lack of laying. The days will be slowly getting longer now and they should start to pick up with more daylight. Predator attacks can also interfere with laying...chickens don't handle stress well and that's certainly a stressful thing for them to endure.
