Oh you will love the calming presence of chickens. If I had your job I would have a bunch of animals too. Welcome here glad you joined.(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
yes, someone in my neighborhood is giving away 3 hens and I am currently getting their set up together. I've never had chickens before but I've always wanted them!
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
None now but in a couple weeks I'll have 3 hens. I've named them Lola, Jhudora, and Henriette.
(3) What breeds do you have?
I'm not sure. I attached a picture so maybe someone cane tell me. Their last owner says they lay brown eggs.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I love that they're so chatty/vocal and having then will help me get towards my goal of at least partial self sufficiency. I've always been partial to the idea of having a farm but since I can't have the full farm I'm good with having a few chickens lol
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I make my own skin and hair care products using natural and organic, food grade ingredients. I like to do my own hair and nails (like nail salon acrylic stuff). I write and draw.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I'm a major Crimes detective which means I investigate violent crimes. I have a bunny, a dog, a guinea pig, and a guppy. I want to befriend my neighbors crows so that's another little project I'm working on. When I'm not working I'm usually working on my garden or caring for my animals. Pretty much a homebody lol
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I was just researching chicken care on Google and came across BYC. Hopefully I can learn a lot from being here.
