Hello - me and my girls

Thanks! You too! Also, do you know if Blitz is a rescue? Leghorns are often used at factory farms, because they are so prolific, and in the pic it looks like her beak is a little clipped (though maybe it's just the angle of the photo) so I wondered if she was rescued from somewhere commercial. Good for you (and previous owners) if so!

Im pretty sure the previous owner just went to the first place he found that sold chicks and said "one of everything please"

You can see Blitz better in my second post drinking from the flooded copper tub. She isn't a rescue, I doubt a rescue from one of those scary factories would be nearly as friendly. Apparantly leghorns are flighty by nature, but she eats out of my hand (they all do), and we even play a game where I will turn over a leaf and she will pick it up and toss it away if there are no bugs under it... It's really adorable ;(

Oh, yes, I see what you mean; sorry. She sounds so sweet! I love feeding them from my hand.

Oh it's ok! It got me thinking about maybe adopting a rescue someday. I don't know if I'm ready for that kind of responsibility though!

That's funny -- I have the exact same thoughts: 1. It would be great; but 2. I am too intimidated by their special needs. I got my girls last September, so not far off from when you got yours, and I'm thinking maybe when I have another year or two under my belt I'll go for it. I happen to live near a great farm sanctuary that regularly has ex-batts for adoption.

Yeah, I've read some things on here that make me a bit squeamish. Maybe I will get better with time, I just recently realized how important a de-worming schedule is... Still have lots to learn!

I love your birds! Barred Rocks and Leghorns are the best! I actually have a White Leghorn named Sweet Pea.
