Hello my feathered friends!

Hi! I'm the Rocking Sunflower, yet my favorite grandlittles call me Pineapple, lol. My husband I started our feathered flock last December with 2 geese. ( My goal was a goat, settled for geese. Then came the sister-wife to the couple. I have learned, they are just as temperamental as my colony of cats and 5 dogs. Each with their own personality. Really hilarious when the "couple" start arguing. Think Ricky and Lucy Ricardo. The faces Lucy makes are just as hilarious as Lucille Ball herself! Found out they have a 20 year life span and are SEASONAL layers. My only disappointment. They are African Greys, but i call them my velociraptors. Lol! Think of Daenerys from Game of Thrones with her dragons. So now, I'm acquiring four Mustgovy baby ducklings. Next will be my chickens. Here's my "corny" joke. How will I get my chickens? I planted my chicken seed in winter, still waiting on my chickens to bloom. They a pond and a small pool, plus another tub of what is supposed to be drinking water. Good luck with that! The water gets cleaned every day, within a few minutes, it's dirty again. They love, love, love to throw mud into their water sources. All of them! (Cue the good, the bad, and the ugly theme song here. Lol) By the way, they get upset when the cats get near them. Yet are best friends with the squirrels and other small birds. Thinking of naming my coops Feathers of a Sunflower 1 & ll What do you think? I came across Backyard chickens on Facebook.

All ready for the new Muskovy babies tomorrow. Here's the "nursery!" I had almost forgotten I still had my old 55 gal aquarium. We got it cleaned for the most part. I'm so excited! I've been reading other threads while I'm here, especially acclamation to our SE Texas heat. Im definitely taking notes.I have so much to learn!

I would not use a heat lamp inside an aquarium. It will trap way too much heat and overheat the birds.
Try not using any heat source inside the house and see how they do. If they complain I would definitely invest in a brooder plate.
