(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
When I was 5 years old my mother ordered the 30 count box of assorted bantams from a hatchery. Despite the less than ideal or recommended start to backyard chickens, they're definitely a part of me.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I have two adult hens and 4 babies in the NICU at my house in a small town. My parents hobby farm supports the numerous other chickens that I have "had to have."

(3) What breeds do you have?
At home I have a (we think) New Hampshire Red hen that I found in a farm supply store parking lot and a Salmon Favorelle. My NICU currently houses a Sapphire Gem (sex link through Hoovers Hatchery), Salmon Favorelle, Delaware, and Barred Rock. The farm houses a long list of birds... I could name them but lets just say we've had or have a long list of common cold hardy (and less hardy) chickens. My mother has a hatching project going with her Lavender Orpingtons that I got her last year. We also had peacocks for 15 years but are taking an extended break.

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
I have browsed the community for a couple times a year for years, Im sure I found it on Google.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I would consider my horses and gardening my other hobbies.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I have a three year old son and husband that are super supportive of my craziness. The opportunity that this forum gives to connect people and share information and experiences is truly one of the great things about this generation. Im excited to learn.
