Hello, new and first time in a online group

Hi, I've recently started keeping chickens. What started me keeping chickens is my Guinea Fowl. I'm pretty sure its a male but not 100%. Anyways, this past summer I was building a new deck in my back yard, when one day a single Guinea came out of the wooded treeline at the edge of my yard at the fence. He walked up to my side gate and would holler to be let in, in would go to open it he would run a way a little and when I gave enough space he would come in my yard and free range all day, taking naps in the wood line and coming bacl after his nap. This went on for a week until the local cats and hawks started noticing him hanging around.( I live in a small subdivision) I noticed on the first day he was injured, missing feathers and and small claw marks under his wing and with predators starting to key in on him I decided to figure out what to do. Long story short i found the owner but he said he didn't want him back so instead of letting him get picked off by predators I captured the guinea fowl and had to put him in a pen through the winter. It was a small enclosure to start with a small coop, I have made some upgrades to it as well as adding a large run and have added three hens to keep him company and help calm him. That was several months ago and all is going well. I plan letting them all free range soon but want to take measures to keep them in the yard. There are more details but for the most part that's the story of how I got into keeping chickens and why I'm here in this group. I really love spending time with my birds and they enjoy it as well just needed to find a community that enjoys them as well and maybe some helpful info on keeping them happy especially the guinea. I have had a hard time finding much info on keeping guineas. I am planning on making improvements to the run as well as the coop, still a work in progress.
Welcome. You are wonderful for rescuing your guinea. Thank you for making the best life for him with hens. You did a great thing.
