Hello Fellow BYC Members!

I have been on and off with owning/keeping chickens since I was very young. Fast forward and I am looking at starting into the breeding portion of having chickens. Before I start with breeding, I wanted to join this group to ask some questions/advice about genetics, chick sexing, and the incubation process.

Here is a quick rundown of the breeds in my flock:
  • Rooster
    • Blue Wheaton Ameracauna (Heritage bred)
  • Hens
    • Golden Comet
    • Rhode Island Red
    • Silver Laced Wyandotte
    • Black Sex-link
    • Olive Egger
    • Blue Wheaton Ameracauna
I love just sitting out and watching my chickens with a cup of coffee/sweet tea. They are very amusing and the funniest little creatures. Having chickens is definitely a hobby and not something that I expect to make an income from, I just enjoy their presence. My chickens are free range and all of my animals co-exist in the same space with no issues (dogs included). My dogs love to go outside and chicken watch with me!

I am a military spouse, environmental scientist, Australian Shepherd rescue enthusiast, and animal lover. My husband and I love to travel, go to local breweries, build things together, and dream about our future.

Happy to be a Chicken Tender!
