Hello, new chicken mom

I just started raising chickens this year after reading about them for quite some time. We are in N. San Diego county, California..Fallbrook to be more precise. We have 3 girls, a Rhode Is. red, cuckoo maran and an Amercauna, all born on Apr 11 this year. The red and maran have started laying but the amercauna no yet. Yesterday she started an awful racket..but no egg. Is this normal?

Not an expert by any means, but I would say that can be normal. From what I've read they may start singing days prior to laying. Just keep an eye on her and watch for behavior changes or signs of being egg bound.

Wish I could've been more help, but try not to worry so much (If you're anything like me, that's probably like telling you to move a mountain!)
