(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
- I am new to chicken owning, but have always loved them. I first got my 6 silkie chicken babies last week.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
- 6
(3) What breeds do you have?
-Blue Silkie Bantams
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
-I work has a vet tech in small animal practice. I have always wanted to expand to caring for chickens and also having fresh eggs.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I volunteer as a wildlife rehabilitator for birds of prey, playing ultimate frisbee and caring for all of my animal children: cats, snakes, geckos, fish, dogs and now chickens!
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
- I live with my husband and our animal crew. My cats (Yahtzee and Stella) are quite the handful. I'm mostly a crazy animal lover/workaholic at my vet clinic. In my free time I love to bake and challenge myself to try new recipes. Cheesecakes are my major success stories haha.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
- I found BYC while searching the web to learn all I can to be a good chicken momma. There is always more to learn and while I have an amazing coworker with a farm who is housing my babies and teaching me the ropes I can always have more knowledge. Also if anyone knows of a farm in Littleton, CO where I could pay for my chickens to stay when they are older that would be great.
