Welcome!!!! This is my first time with chickens, i have 8 girls and 1 rooster. Three of mine have just started laying and it has been so exciting!!! This site has been so helpful to me i am so greatful for it people are very generous in helping and sharing their knowledge. Welcome aboard

Glad you could join the flock! Waiting for those first eggs can seem to take an age!! It's so special when you find that first one though. It never gets boring collecting them and I still enjoy collecting those little treasures. What breed/s do you have?

I'm not sure what breeds, my mom hatched 3 on may 5 that were just backyard chickens. 1 ended up being a rooster. So we bought 3 more on craigslist and they didn't know what they were. I'm trying to figure out how to upload pics

I think the black pullet is an Easter egger.

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. X2 on drumstick diva; the black bird in the bottom pic is an Easter Egger pullet. The bird in the top picture is a Red Sex Link pullet which are laying machines. You should get loads of large, brown eggs from that girl. ) Please feel free to ask any questions you may have.
