I just moved to a farm, and am looking to get into chickens. Mostly for pets, and eggs. I am looking for Wyendottes and Rhode Islands, maybe some other type of standard chickens. Am going to wait til Spring to buy any, unless I just can't wait. I am building my own pens and coops. Could use some advice on the best materials to use!!!

I would suggest that you go to the coop pages. You'll get lots of wonderful ideas there on how to build a coop.

I would also suggest that you visit the Hatcheries that are listed as advertisers for BYC up in the right hand corner.

Wyandottes and Reds are great layers, but remember, variety is the spice of life.

If I hadn't already decided on the breeds that I'm going to run with, I'd order the Ornamental Layer collection from McMurray.
