Hello New here and wanting to build a Coop.

This is my first post here and I want raise my own Chickens.

I have an area that is 10 X 12 feet with 3 foot high chain link fence around it. This is were I will build my coop, I live in a small town so I shouldn't have any problems.

I plan to enclose the whole area to keep the chickens in and chicken getters out. I live in East Central Oklahoma and not sure what breeds I need.

Welcome to BYC!! The coop you have will depend on the number of birds and their size. The breeds you want will depend on your ultimate aim/goal...eggs/meat/show/pet? Thoroughly read and review these pages as they have a wealth of pertinent info, especially the coop pages. Look through the breed page for great info on all types of birds. The BYC'ers break it all down into easily digestable chunks. You will be amazed at what you can learn here. I liked it so much that I bought the book "Raising Chickens for Dummies" for my family to give me for Xmas!!

WELCOME !!! You will learn sooooo very much from the folks on this forum ! I'd been out of chicks for 30+ years and just got back in last Aug. I love all the info on here.
